Default Problems with Server password

Hi there!

I've downloaded Ventrilo 2.3.2 Prototype .15 today, and I've tried to connect to a server which has a password. The password for this server is 6 letters long, so I enter it, press OK, and press the "Connect" button. It says that it connected to the server, but that the password was incorrect.

"Oh, okay, must have made a mistake while typing it."

I go back to edit the password, but for unknown reasons, the password has now 8 letters. 2 letters came out of nowhere. "Uh, weird". I retype the six letters password, verify if everything's okay. I try to connect again. Same message, the password is apparently incorrect.
I go back to edit it and again, a 8 letters password! I was sure I wrote 6 letters. I make a test: I only write 2 letters as the password. I click OK and then go back to edit it: it's the unknown 8 letters password once again!

Why is it doing this?

ventrilo will display 8 * no matter the entered password.
please verify with the server admin that you have the correct password. if you are in the usr list with a set password, then you will need to use that password.

Hello, I am having the same issue with the Mac prototype 15. On my PC I connect fine using the server password. On my Mac, it tells me the password is incorrect. I have quadruple-checked the server info and the password. Any thoughts?

Could it be the server version is too old? It's running Linux 2.3.1.

Check your auth setting, whether or not the user is in the USR file - the password is typed with the correct capitalization, etc.

There's definitely nothing wrong with the Mac client.
