Default I cant talk to people but they can talk to me.

I'm on a mac and everyone else is on a Pc. I dont have any of the muting options checked and I have turned up the input volume as high as it will go in preferences and in ventrilo. I am trying to use an isight as the mic but i can also choose the internal mic. I am on an Emac just so you know. The input device is also the same in preferences as it is in ventrilo... Anyone know how to fix this?

Is it turned up both in Ventrilo and the Sound preference pane? Does it sound OK when you test in setup?

I believe this is an issue with vent using the isight as a mic. I seem to recall something to that effect and i can't remember if it ever got fixed.

I use an iSight and mine simply cuts in and out, if I talk for a long amount of time it seems like I get choppy.

No idea why, it just happens, I log in using my PC right next to me, works fine.

I'd prefer to have an external mic to use with my wireless headphones, I can go afk but still know what's going on, rather than using a wired headset.

I don't know if there is an issue with the iSight mic..but I know I have issues, I'd love more information about it.

I have the same problem. No one can hear me; I can hear everyone else.

I have two headsets; one non-USB and USB headset. The mics on both are flawless - I can record my own voice in a 3rd party app just fine using either.

I had read in another thread here that the Vent server you log into must use the Speex codec in order for a Mac user to be able to interact with other users. Would this be the problem in my (and the original poster's) case??

I am running both an iMac G5 and a Macbook and have the same issue on both machines.

If you can hear other people, then the server is configured for Speex.

Ok. so any other ideas as to why Vent does not recognise any of my mics?? I'm starting to pull hairs over this one. I'd love to use Vent and link up with my fellow PC users, but it's frustrating that they can't hear me.

As I mentioned, there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of my mics.

Are you using voice-activated or push-to-talk?
