Default Unable to activate DirectSound for selected device.

When ever i connect to Ventrilo this wonderful message pops up and says.

"Unable to activate DirectSound for selected device.
DirectSoundCaptureCreate failed. HR=DSERR_NODRIVER. No sound driver is available for use"

Im sure the first thing your going to tell me is to make sure my mic is plugged in... it is and to the same color plug. I cannot hear or speak to anyone on vent. And when i go to [Setup] it says " No mixers are available." Please help im not quite sure what the problem is. I did go to my control panel and when to audio devices and that isnt picking up my mic either.

F.Y.I. I was going through my computer deleting things that might have been slowing my computer down and disconnecting me and i did delete a few things without knowing what they were. And before doing that the mic and ventrilo were working perfectly.

Please HELP!

ouch, if the mic doesn't work in the windows recorder then it won't work in vent either.

have you tried doing a windows system restore?
