Default Default Channel Issue

I recently installed Ventrilo 3.0.4 on my Macbook Pro, and I set up the server information similarly to my other computer which is running Windows XP. When I connect to the server, I am not put into the default channel that I specified.

Anyone have any idea about how to fix this?

make sure you included the top-level channel names too.

rt-clik on the channel name / misc / copy channel path

then paste that into the default channel box

I tried copy and pasting the channel path, and I've tried typing it in manually. Neither method has worked for me.

another possibility is that a server admin has set a default channel for your user name which would over-ride what you have setup.

rt-clik in window / server admin / user editor / network tab / default channel box

That doesn't seem to be the case, since I can use my windows client and using the same name and still be able to move have my default channel work.

Default Default Channel Issue

does anyone know how to change the default position for the left bar? it starts somewhere near the bottom now and it would be nice for it to start at the top.

What is the left bar?

and on setting the default channel:

If you go Right Click->Server Admin->User Editor and then select yourself, then click the Network Tab, make sure Switch Channels is checked and then click the button with the ... in it. Then pick a channel. Click ok.

Important Part: Now click the UPDATE button at the bottom of the window and close the User Editor window.

Disconnect from the server and and quit Vent. Make sure you are not running vent on any other computer.

Start up vent and see what happens.

I am not the server admin of the ventrilo server, so I cannot go into the user editor.

See what Prog-Rocker noted above:

The server admin can override your settings. I would ask the server admin what they have your default channel set to.

The settings for my name should be untouched by the server admin.

I tried logging in with the same name on my desktop with Windows XP with the exact settings as my Macbook Pro, and I get moved into my default channel the instant I log on.
