Angry I Can't Hear!

When I sign on to vent I am unable to hear those talking. They are fully able to hear me and I can hear all sounds on my computer and in vent except for others talking and the TTS. My friends and I have spent much time on trying to troubleshoot this and have done almost everything imaginable, including un and reinstalling ventrilo. I run Microsoft Vista Ultimate 64 bit, I have tried both 64 and 32 bit versions of ventrilo with the same result. I would appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks in advance!

is the speaker icon next to the people speaking yellow or green?
if green, you do not have permission to listen to that stream.

you may also need to specify the output device in ventrilo setup.

The speaker shows up as green unless the person talking is in a different channel than I am. To my knowledge that is all standard. My output devices are set correctly. Is there a setting somewhere on my computer that would be interfering with vent?

Smile Relief

I actually managed to fix it. After spending a couple hours troubleshooting the problem and driving myself and others crazy it ended up being something quite simple! My sound settings were set at 7.1 when I only have two speakers so once I changed that to a more appropriate setting it worked fine. Thank you for your help!

I got the exact same problem, and i am not sure what sounds settings
have to be set to more appropriate.

Help appreciated. Really.
