I have just purchase a new computer with Windows 7- 64bit. When I try to connect to a WOW game group I get the following message;
"DirectSoundCaptureCreate failed. HR=DSERR_NODRIVER. No sound driver is available for use." I've changed the settings from Flagship form on Windows 7 cached/ delayed but still get the above message. I can see my log-in to the group but I can not hear any one talking. I had a Windows XP computer before and Vent worked great. Is there a fix for Windows 7 64bit? |

check this too:
http://forum.ventrilo.com/showpost.p...62&postcount=6 Testing the Microphone with Windows (the microphone must work here before it will work with any voice-comm program) Windows Vista/Windows 7 Programs / Accessories / Sound Recorder / create a recording then save it Windows Media Player (WMP) / playback recording |

I have encountered the same error message. My comp is also new and have windows 7 but never had a problem before with the old computer and windows XP. It lets me log in and I can hear others talking but I cannot figure out how to get it to allow me to speak to others.
I have tried messing with the setup and options but nothing changes it. My computer recognizes the mic, the green bars register sound into the mic when i test it, but for some reason ventrilo does not. Anyone know of a fix please?! |

in vent setup, try unchecking 'use directsound' then set the name to the mic device
did you try creating a recording then playing it back? |

Well that DID make the error message in Vent go away, but I still cannot communicate. Outside of vent my mic does record at very low level even when boosted to 100% and the play back is very faint even with everything maxed out. |

@ mrrico
does your icon turn green when keying up? if not then: try setting both Vent and any online game to ‘Run As Administrator’ (rt-click their icon / properties / compatibility tab / privilege level) or (rt-click their icon and select 'Run as Administrator') -------- also make sure the 'mute mic' box at the bottom of the main window is unchecked? ----------- in vent setup, set outbound amplifier to 0 clik the 'test' button, hold ptt and talk, then release and listen to playback. how does it sound? |
