Exclamation GSM 6.10 -vs- Speex Codec's

Just had a quick question regarding the Codec's. I am currently a macintosh user and have recently just downloaded the client Ventrilo version 3.0.0. I am able to connect and move through my server's multiple channels and hear when someone logs on or off. Unfortunately I am unable at this time to communicate or even listen to the members online. When I move from channel to channel, an error message pops everytime. In the message it informs me of this problem;

Failed to get encoder for specific Codec.

This client platform currently supports only Speex codec. The server
and/or channel is configured to use the 'GSM 6.10' codec.

If anyone could explain this to me and how I can properly fix it that would be a great help. Thanks.

the server needs to be modified to use the Speex codec as the default codec.

Does this affect windows users in any way? We currently have a mix of Windows and Mac users in our ventrilo user-base. The Mac users are having issues because our server settings are set for GSM 6.1

Will the windows users have issues if we change to Speex?
