Default New to Vent questions

A few questions to a new server owner coming over from Teamspeak.

1) How do people "register"?
2) How do I set up certain people as admins?

there is no registration process for the server, the server admin uses the User Editor to create accounts.

While in the User Editor, look at the options in the Admin tab.

The Help button is very useful to learn about the different features and is context sensitive.

1) you have them register on a "forum" like your website then send you and email with user name and what password they want

2) Please see http://www.ventrilo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37519 and read my WARNING! at the bottom concerning super admins

This feature is to make the super admins do their job
I think this feature is in place because if users can change there own passwords so can [GUEST] accounts.
creating a huge problem and a headache for you as an admin.

hope this helps

Nope, the feature to change there own password would be great (as a Super admin and owner myself) but if that was able for any user the "GUEST" accounts would have the same access.

IE: if one person logged in as a guest and changed the password every guest would have to have the new password. creating a long list of complaints for the admins of that server.

its a headache at times yes I know but imagine what it would be like if 50 people could change the password for one "GUEST" acc. and this number would grow drastically if more people knew the information for the server than max possible accounts.
