Default Unable to log on to server

I run a Windows 8.1 64 Bit Machine

I have used Ventrilo for VOIP Communications for some time, Last night several of my guild members on World of Warcraft reported they were unable to get on to the server we use whilst others were able to log on fine.

No settings have been changed.

We all tried to download the latest client version 3.0.8 but with no success.

Pressing the "Connect" button changes it to disconnect as normal but no connection to Ventrilo is ever made.

I am not aware of any Windows update in the last 24 hours which would affect this

My 4 friends who are experiencing the same problem confirm the same set of issues.

Please can anyone help?

(Most of the other affected people are running 32 bit Windows 7)

sounds like there might be a network issue to the server.

first make sure the server address hasn't changed:

to check your network connectivity try a traceroute and telnet to the server:

start > run
cmd {hit enter}
tracert serverhostname(found in server setup)

(example: tracert )

try the telnet test:

start > run
cmd {hit enter}
telnet serverhostname port#

(where serverhostname={the server ipaddress or hostname of the server you’re trying to connect to (found in vent client server setup)} and port#={port associated with that server}
(example: “telnet 3784” or “telnet 3784” without the quotes)

If Telnet is able to connect then the screen will go blank. If not, then you will see an error message about not being able to connect.

Enabling Telnet in Vista/Windows 7

Control-Panel / Programs and Features / Turn Windows features on or off / select “Telnet Client” / click OK
