Default How to record vent & yourself w/ 3rd party program (sound forge audio)

I want to record vent and myself. Currently, I have to disable the microphone in windows recording tab, and enable the stero mix.

in this thread

mjgraf indicates:

if you want to speak in ventrilo and record your system sounds using fraps (stereo mix), you will need two sounds or a sound card and USB mic.
So if i go buy a USB mic, will i get better options of being able to enable stero mix to record and be able to still continue to use my mic?

thanks

Or, use the ventrilo built-in recording feature.

everything I have read indicates there is no smooth way to convert the vent recordings to mp3/wave.

I will need the ability of mp3 to add into video editing.

But I plan on picking up a usb mic/headset this afternoon and giving it a shot

Ok, i got that working and was able to record.

I got a usb mic/headphone it comes wiht 2 jackes, that plug into an usb adapter.

however, i am still unable to use the usb mic/headphones and record vent.

then, i take the jackes out of the usb connector, plug the jacks in like normal, i can record vent no problem.

note, this is with 3rd party program audacity & sound forge.

So I cant really figure it out, but i got the above working by using in game vent recording, then using audacity.

Just a little frustrating.
