Logs are sent. I have a few from 3.0.9 too, but a quick comparison of the stack trace shows it crapping out the same way.

I don't recall it crashing on 10.6. It was only once I upgraded to Lion (10.7) that it started happening.

I finally had this happen to me and I happen to be running it in debug mode. After carefully analyzing the sequence of events I think that I have finally found the source of the problem.

As suspected it was a deadlock between two threads trying to lock each others semaphores. Classic multi-threaded problem but I was originally of the mindset that it was a clash between two of my own threads. But this was hard to believe because I'm usually cautious about this kind of mistake.

However, it turns out that a system thread is performing a callback into my program and the mutex's that are deadlocked are one of mine and one that is owned by the system it self. The system mutex is locked before calling back into Ventrilo. This of course making it next to impossible to figure out with the debugger active.

Anyway, I should have an update in a few days that solves this problem. Will post should that change.

FYI,

I just now released 3.0.12 which should finally solve the beachball problem.

As always see the changelog from the download page.

@krustyfur

just to make sure, did you check the 'About' button after starting vent to see if it was 3.0.12?

I only ask because i cliked the wrong package file once and thought i had upgraded.

Yes I did. I double checked that wondering the same thing myself. Also, in the crash log I forwarded you, you'll see this at the top which verifies it.

Code:
Date/Time: 2011-10-13 21:22:13 -0400
OS Version: 10.7.1 (Build 11B26)
Architecture: x86_64
Report Version: 8

Command: Ventrilo
Path: /Applications/Ventrilo.app/Contents/MacOS/Ventrilo
Version: 3.0.12 (3.0.12)
Parent: launchd [237]
I have also renamed each previous version when I installed the new one to ensure I didn't start the wrong one.

I am getting this issue, I have 3.0.12, OS X 10.7.2 (11C74), running on a MacBook Pro with 2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo. Ventrilo never crashes, it just stops responding and I have to force quit out. It is very random and happens anywhere from 5 mins to 2 hrs but it will happen. I am using a Creative USB headset. I have removed Ventrilo and re-installed it and this has been happening since 3.0.9.

I had trouble with 3.0.12 still crashing, until I enabled access for assistive devices. Since then I have not had problems anymore (OSX 10.7.2)

Just wanted to report that crashes still happen in 3.0.12 (can send crash report if needed), even with "enabled access for assistive devices" (which should be anyway for proper PTT support)
