Hi there,
I have set up my vent server and am able to log in easily using my LAN address, however when I try and log in using my IP address It simply just won't connect. I've watched videos and read through forums about opening ports through my firewall, however even after doing this (assuming I did it correctly) I'm still having no luck. If I could get some help to work through this that'd be great. It's so frustrating to know I am so close. Thanks |

For PC’s connecting on the same LAN as the server: If you’re connecting the client from a different PC than the server then configure the client to use one of the internal ipaddresses of the server for the servername. The LAN ipaddress is typically set to 192.168.x.x If you’re running the client on the same PC as the server then configure the client to use 127.0.0.1 or “localhost” as the Hostname (ipaddress). Most home routers will not loopback a connection if you specify your external ipaddress or DNS hostname in the Ventrilo Client > Server setup. In most cases this configuration has caused unexpected problems. did you configure your router for portforwarding? see this for further instructions first: http://forum.ventrilo.com/showthread.php?t=17761 let us know if you still have problems

Most home routers will not loopback a connection if you specify your external ipaddress or DNS hostname in the Ventrilo Client only use the local ipaddress to connect.
