Default Mic stays on a bit after transmission

I'm on vent with a friend and when he let's go of his button he will continue to transmit sound for several seconds afterward. Sometimes it's long sometimes it's short.

I can also hear myself responding to him during that time. Otherwise there is no problem I can hear him just fine and he can hear me. He's using Vista as am I and we are both using the same client version.
