Default Ventrilo, WoW, Mac, big raids, and network death

I have a very weird problem.

About half the time when I'm using Vent with WoW on my G5 over 802.11g, my network connection on that machine will stop working. Network access is fine on other machines on the same network.

If I quit both Vent and WoW, wait a few seconds, it'll come back. Rebooting the router doesn't fix it.

It seems to happen more frequently as there are more people in the same channel (i.e. never with 5-mans, frequently with 20-mans and quite often with 40-mans, although this might be a red herring.)

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Works fine with WoW on my G5, though mine is hard-wired.

To quickly rule out the wireless connection, I'd recommend trying it hard-wired.

It's hard to verify since it doesn't happen consistently. More worrying, I haven't read any reports of it happening to anyone else.

I ran both hardwired for a 4 hour raid last night without triggering the problem, but that isn't saying much.

Is there any chance that another Vent user might somehow be interfering? That's the only thing I can think of that might be a factor. I'll try to narrow it down.

Thanks!

I've definitely had some problems on a wireless connection, especially on higher bitrates.

I have never had an issue with Vent and wireless. I use a G4 iMac and a G5 tower and an airport base plugged into a wired dsl modem. But, i play Shadowbane, not WoW, so maybe there is some conflict there? But it all works beautifully for me.

I was having a similar issue on a Linksys WRT54GS. Disabling UPnP fixed the issue for me.

I'd suspect the wireless/router. They're not all the same and the way they NAT and firewall works differently one to the next.
