Default How does one split sound between Headset/Speakers?

So I was researching about it, cause it would be more useful to me to have it in that configuration, similar to an Xbox 360 headset, and I found through this thread that a guy was having a problem with it.

One man's trash is another man's treasure I guess.

Anyways, I don't have a Logitech Bluetooth headset, so I'm not sure his configuration would work for me. I have one of those that make me look like a telemarketer (except I talk to you in your free time ). In other words, you clip it onto one ear and you talk. And I plug it into the sound card in the back of my computer. Is there any way I can hear my buddies sweet-talk their trash to me over vent - through one ear? And are there any problems with doing this?

Default

someone suggested this a long time ago and i don't know if it works or not.

Put your sound card into surround mode.
Plug your speakers into the Front speaker connection on the card.
Plug your headphones into the Rear speaker connection on the card.
Click Setup.
Enable DirectSound for the output device.
Click SFX.
Click surround.
Add the 3D Surround option.
Move the slider all the way to Rear.
