do you have any other usb devices installed, other than keyboard or mouse?
is the keyboard a logitech G series by chance?

is the headset plugged into an on-board usb port, as opposed to a usb hub?

Nah just a usb keyboard and usb mouse the keyboard is a stock like 2005 HP keyboard the headset is plugged into the usb ports at the back of my motherboard. Thanks for trying to help me with this I appreaciate it but I think my next move will be returning my razer and moving to a nice stereo headset with a clip on mic and a soundcard for my surround sound headphone needs.

Thanks Prog

I will try that when I get home from work

The wierd thing is that it is plugged into the exact the same rear USB 2.0 port that it was before when it was working fine. So, it is already plugged into a powered USB port.

Also, to mention at this time....my PC is currently connected to the NET via a Wireless repeater, since I have not had a chance to run a cable to it from the router on the main floor.

I performed packet tests to the vent servers that I use, and the response time for all of them was under 35ms (consistently).

I am leary that it is the port; however it is possible for a constantly used USB port to degrade over time based upon use. So, I will try another port and report back on the results

it is possible for a usb port to not deliver full voltage/current or have another device on the same buss pull more than it should. i just had to move my keyboard to a different port which is why i linked that post.

So, I tried a different powered USB 2.0 port; however it came to the same conclusion.

I did however though experience the same issue that I'm having with vent in Skyrim...which leads me to believe that this is not a vent issue, but either a hardware(headset) issue or software(driver) issue. However, this is event is only appearing on those 2 pieces of software; so at this time I am left to ponder WTH is going on
