People using windows complain that the Speex server is not as good quality as GSM, is there any way to improve this ?

Thanks

i disagree with the statement that speex isn't as good as gsm. I've had servers with both and find that speex has a much better resolution while using less bandwidth than gsm.

as for changing the server > the server admin must edit the ventrilo_srv.ini file and change the voicecodec= and voiceformat= lines to 3 and 20 respectively. the server must be restarted after the change.

here are other settings:
Codec Format Description:
0 0 GSM 6.10 (8 KHz, 16 bit) 1625 bytes/sec

Remember that ALL Windows users need to upgrade to 2.3.2 beta 3, whether they think they're having a problem or not.

The Mac client has the Speex codec. The server to which you're connecting is configured for GSM. The server administrator needs to reconfigure it for Speex and restart the server.
