I have finally been able to duplicate the problem. It's definitely sound system (my code) related but because it takes so long to duplicate (5 minutes to 45 minutes) it makes it very difficult to trace down. Add diag, run, add another diag, run, etc...

But I won't release a new version until I have it fixed.

Well, I was wrong. Looks like this problem is actually in the OS or the BT Drivers them selves.

However, I think I might have found a kludge that will solve the problem. Annoying way to solve the problem but so far my testing shows that it will work. Will advise over the coming days as testing progresses.

thank you for keeping us informed

just wanted to mention, that the ventrilo client is the only application on my powerbook which cuts off the sound with bluetooth.
speex, skype and even itunes work flawlessly for several hours.

There is a specific reason for that. The design requirements for Ventrilo are considerably different from those other applications and we use the sound system in a radically different way in order to achieve our feature set, which is not fully supported on the Mac client at this time but will be in the future. So the design dictated the implementation.

But as mentioned I should have a solution in the next release.

I've been testing the fix for this problem all week and it seems to work perfectly.

So expect a new option in Setup->Global in the next release.

P.S. I have been getting hangs after about 10-20 mins on a busy server forcing me to restart venty.

I am having this same problem, just installed the client last night, can reproduce every time, I will try the mute on and off thing tonight

will using a wired headset keep this from happening?
