Default Sound Quality Distortion with Wireless Headset

Using a BH-M20 headset, everytime I log into a vent server my sound quality becomes abysmal. It's as if everything is coming from an air vent or something.

If I go into setup however while still logged in the sound becomes perfectly fine. Any ideas?

sounds like the audio signal is being overdriven

is that headset the Bluetooth version?

in vent setup/voice-binds-speech tabs, did you set the output device to the Bluetooth dongle name?

also make sure the inbound volume is set to 0

when you goto setup vent basically unbinds from windows directx so let's look at the audio devices and disable all the devices that aren't used:

Windows Control-Panel > Sound > Playback & Recording tabs > rt-click in the window and select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" > rt-click on all unused devices and select "disable"

Yes it's a Bluetooth, and I set up those tabs to the Bluetooth device. I did what you said with the sound disabling the devices that aren't in use. It hasn't fixed the problem either.

ok, lets check the audio properties for that device.

goto windows audio/playback tab, select the BT device and clik 'properties'. I don't have any bt devices with me but I will try to suggest some settings unless you can post some pics of the options.

in the properties there will be tabs with options. first check the levels then if there is an enhancements/advanced tab, try to disable any enhancements, in advanced try setting it to 1 channel as BT can't do stereo with a microphone. it has to do mono audio with mic.

Went into the advanced tabs, only options there was exclusive mode

" Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device "
" Give exclusive mode applications priority "

I checked off both of them and it did nothing.

Also I'm unable to put it at channel 1. It's grayed out on channel 2.

another possibility is I've heard that usb devices can sometimes interfere with windows directx. you might try moving the bt dongle to a different usb port. also remove any other usb devices, except kybd/mouse, just to test.

can you also post the following plz:

Start > Run
Dxdiag

Click the 'Save All' button
File is saved to the desktop as "DxDiag.txt"
Copy/paste the information (up to, and including, the [PS/2 Devices] section) to the forum. The information might have to be separated into multiple posts due to the maximum character limitation.
