Default Log In Sound Issues

I am having a issue hearing when people log into or out of vent. I have no problem hearing anyone or them hearing me. I have checked all my sound settings and I can not find the solution. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

Yes, they are all set to Wave file. When I hit play though it doesn't make a sound.

Before manually changing the permissions on those files, I would like to suggest using Disk Utility to repair permisssions;

It's located in the Applications->Utilities folder. Start it, select your Hard Drive icon on the left, and on the right click the Repair Disk Permissions button.

Don't worry if it gives a bunch of errors, as that is normal as it is doing the repair.

Let us know the outcome.

I tried the Repair Disk suggestion and that did not do anything for Vent. I haven't had a chance yet to try the Wave File Permission post suggestion but once I do I will report back.

Also, I forgot to add in my original post that I have completely uninstalled Vent and reinstalled it and the problem continues. (Not sure if this is important info. or not)

Thanks!

This fixed my problem. Maybe should be added to the Vent Mac Troubleshooting: Start Here sticky?

Excellent news!

So you change the group Everyone to Read Only? Did you also move the files or leave them in /Library/Preferences/Ventrilo/wav?
