I currently own a vent server, and for the past few months it has been fine. But everyone once it awhile, (now it has happened 3 times), when a mac user logs on, it gives an error message and they cannot hear or talk. The weird thing about it is that its always the same person, but they can talk and listen in on other vents fine. The error is, copied exactly;
Failed to get Encoder for specified Codec, This client platform currently supports only the Speex codec. The server and/or channel is configured to use the ‘GSM 6.10’ codec. When I went to my service provider, they told me that it was an issue for ventrilo, and not them. Any help would be appreciated. Dax |

the macintosh OS does not support the GSM codec. the server needs to be switched to use the Speex codec as the default. it's very easy to change. the server owner can change it using the hosters control panel and then restart the server. takes no more than 5 minutes to change.
