I can hear my friends speak while playing "World of Warcraft" but I can't speak to them while playing "World of Warcraft" but while I'm on just the ventrilo window i can speak and hear normally.. And yes the check boxes mute microphone/bind and mute sound are unchecked. My input and output device are chosen. I appreciate the help! Thank you.

This same thing is happening to me on Tuesday out of nowhere. I haven't changed any settings in about a year so it must somehow be related to the new patch...let me know if you figure out a fix please

I'm having the same issue. I am able to use Ventrilo normally with the push-to-talk key, but if World of Warcraft is the active window, Ventrilo will not recognize that I have pressed the push-to-talk key. I can still hear everyone just fine.
I was in a chat room with ten people, and I was the only person with this issue. I believe that I was also the only person with 64-bit Vista. Maybe it's related to that?? |

Vista and PTT
If you’re using Vista and PTT, try setting both Vent and any online game to ‘Run As Administrator’ (rt-click their icons)

i pretty sure that once you set it that it's permanent. rt-clik the vent icon/properties to see if it's still enabled.

It is not permanent. You have to right-click ventrilo and go to compatability and set the box at the bottom to run as administrator. Only problem with this is that you have an annoying dialog box pop up every time you run ventrilo if you don't actaully use the REAL administrator account. (The account that is assigned as administrator, actually isn't administrator) If you want to get rid of the annoying dialog boxes that keep asking for allow or continue, theres a bunch of tutorials online
