Like you would on any Unix system.

You open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, navigate into the directory with the Ventrilo server executable, and start it from the command-line, such as:

anagram:~ wade$ cd Downloads/ventrilo_srv-2.3.1-Darwin-powerpc/
anagram:~/Downloads/ventrilo_srv-2.3.1-Darwin-powerpc wade$ ./ventrilo_srv

You're either double-click Ventrilo from the Finder, or not changing directories into the ventrilo directory at the command-line before starting the program.

Don't do that. Using the command-line, change into the directory and start it from the command-line.

No, nothing is wrong.

Cut and paste your terminal session where you're trying to start the server and receive the error message.
